The Cost of Silence

They speak of change in polished rooms,
While signing deals that seal our dooms,
With steady smiles and scripted tone,
They rule the crowd but stand alone.

The money meant for schools and care
Gets lost somewhere in padded chairs.
While clinics wait and teachers plead,
Corruption feeds on public need.

No sirens scream, no anger loud,
Just quite grief among the crowd.
For hunger grows where lies are fed,
And hope feels thin where trust is dead.

The damage shows in daily life,
In empty plate and borrowed strife.
When leaders steal, the people pay-
Not all at once, but day by day.

Yet still we speak, though voices shake,
For silence helps the wrong they make.
And change begins when truth is said,
Not ruled by gold, but conscience-led.
